Before we dive deep into the benefits of Karastan Rugs, let's steal out a moment to learn about where these Karastan rugs came from or what was its history.

HISTORY

Every smart solution comes just after a problem is endured. So came the Karastan rugs. People loved the beautiful patterns of handmade Oriental rugs. They were quite enticing and were sought after by numerous people. But, they weren’t accessible to them because of the cost of importing and hand weaving them. This problem was solved by an American retailer & textile manufacturer, Marshall Field. He developed the Axminster loom. In 1928, Karastan took American by storm, introducing heirloom quality machine made rugs made domestically that replicated timeless elements found in Persian handmade rugs.

The development of the Axminster loom, which is still in use today, allowed the creation of machine-made rugs that were nearly impossible to distinguish from handmade and gave almost the same look and feel. The primary materials to be used in the creation of these rugs were all-natural and renewable wool back then and even today.

The new manufacturing technique introduced by Field went beyond just visual recreation. His rugs retained all the luxury and fine detail of their hand-woven counterparts, and also brought depth and durability to any space.

DURABILITY CHECK.

To prove the lasting quality of Karastan rugs, Karastan rugs were tested at the Chicago World's Fair. The brand made a name for itself, when it was placed on the floor for people to walk across, proving its durability.

More than 5 million people left their footprints and fair stains all over the rug. Half the rug was cleaned, so people could see how well the Karastan rugs recover. The rug still exists in the same state today. The Wonder Rug continues to inspire all of us. It was displayed at Westchester Home for an Interior Designer Event in October 2014. It's no wonder why the Karsatnan rugs are still known as the Wonder Rugs of America.

KARASTAN RUGS IN TODAY'S WORLD.

Over the last five years, Karastan rugs have redefined the meaning of luxury by creating collections of rugs that embody the rich history of craftsmanship and design while embracing new fiber technology. Karastan rugs are still made in the US. They have been making rugs for decades, and their rugs are of superior design and quality.

The demand for these rugs continues to be tremendous. This explosive volume of demand allows for more improvements, and this continues to unravel the path of innovation. Karastan rugs controls every step of the manufacturing process from fiber to fashion and are still made in the USA.
