Even the best quality rugs must be replaced in the fullness of time. While a regular maintenance can help you to preserve your much loved rug a little longer, but by and by even that would require a replacement.
Gradually, you’ll start noticing strong signs that will suggest you to replace your rug and install a new one. Hence, we at Home decor fine rugs have jotted down some of those signs that will make your work easier!
Lingering foul smell
Sometimes the spills seep into the rug fibers and carpet cushion. If the stains are not coming out and there’s a lingering smell, and you notice that deep cleans just aren’t banishing the bad smells, then it is a strong sign that it’s time to change your rug.
Stains that are stubborn
When you have a rug at your home, stains are inevitable. May you handle it with any amount of care and love, accidents and spills will happen. Many of the times, you might clean it by the homemade remedies, other times you might get it professionally cleaned but sometimes the stains are so stubborn that the harm they cause to your rug is irreversible.
If the stain is small, you can typically hide it under your furniture. But if the damage is permanent and unprepossessing, it’s probably the time to look for a new rug.
Visible amount of damage
Sometimes there can be visible damage to your rug, may it be a small issue like burn mark or major damage like the one caused by mold infestation. Depending upon the degree of damage that might have been done to your rug, you can either fix the problem or simply conclude that it’s time to replace your rug.
When your rug has finally aged
Even after following all the maintenance tips to prolong the life of your rug, you still see ripples or wrinkles on your rug, or you notice matting, fading color or that the padding just doesn’t feel like it’s there anymore, it’s probably the time to bring home a new rug.
Increased allergy symptoms
If you notice more sneezing, itchy or watery eyes or coughing in a carpeted room, may be the problem is beneath your feet. Though these elements such as dust, pet dander and pollen that embeds in rug fibers over time are hard to be noticed, but they can be felt by those that suffer from allergies. Thus, this may be a sign that the carpet is causing allergies for you to act up by looking into new carpeting, or to switch to a hard surface flooring instead.
The style is outdated
You may want to cling to your rug forever, but some day or the other, it’s design and style will get outdated. Thus, when your rug stops matching your style, or it no longer works with your lifestyle, it’s probably the time to replace it.
